Generation FIT™ is
the premier solution for schools looking for a
research-based methodology designed to infuse active
exercise and fitness into the grade 3-12 curriculum
and throughout the school. Students work with peers
and teachers to bring effective fitness
opportunities into the classrooms, to recess and to
their families at home. We integrate an interactive
dance mat game, using interactive video games that
deliver fitness benefits, to many learning environments. Students
help teachers by managing the entire program. The
resulting collaboration provides the students with
mentoring and service learning opportunities,
project-based learning, innovative technology
applications. As a bonus, teachers with enjoy
on-site, sustainable fitness programs completely
managed by well-trained students in grades 3-12. We
don't add to the already over-busy teacher's
workload!
Introduction
Generation FIT™ began as a small program in the
Redmond school district in Oregon during the
2004-2005 school year. The vision was to include
students in the effort to infuse a well-researched
fitness program into both the regular classroom and
PE classes. Pilot program results far exceeded our
expectations. Interest has spread to schools
throughout the country. We discovered success in
many more areas than the fitness and reading
improvement we had targeted.
More than 200 research studies have proven a direct
link between ten minutes of rhythmic, aerobic
exercise and increased academic success and focus in
cognitive tasks (like reading and math) for students
of varied learning styles and needs.

The Time is Right for Gen FIT -
The Problem: Kids Are In Trouble: Not only
are we facing grave challenges in our quest to
develop strong reading and literacy skills among our
students, children are less fit and have a wide
range of attention and behavioral issues we must
accommodate. Over-burdened teachers are challenged
with providing learning strategies that work. In
Generation FIT™, we don’t expect the classroom
teacher to add more roles to an already over-busy
schedule. We provide solutions for many educational
objectives while working to solve the fitness
crisis. Yes, kids are in trouble, and the same kids
can be the solution.
- Only 8 percent of elementary schools, 6.4 percent

- 9 million children over age 6 are obese.
Another 25 percent are borderline and at
risk.***
- 60 percent of children ages 5 to 10 had at
least one risk factor for cardiovascular
disease.**
- 23 percent of white children ages 12 to 19
are overweight, 27 percent of African-American
